Member FAQ

Q: What is the membership criteria for APEX?

A: Membership eligibility is based on a student's academic standing within their university, and is restricted to undergraduate students at four year universities who have completed at least one full year of study. APEX relies solely on objective criteria for its selection purposes, including the student's cumulative grades and their program and university admission standards, and disregards the student's academic discipline, age, and their part-time or full-time status. Please see Becoming a Member for more information about the process.

Q: How do I know if I meet the membership criteria?

A: Students who apply for membership will receive notice of their eligibility via electronic mail. Eligibility is determined by APEX's selection committee, which carefully reviews a student's transcripts and other supporting documents before making a decision. The process usually takes between 3-4 weeks.

Q: What is the cost of membership?

A: Members are required to pay a one-time membership fee. This fee grants lifetime membership to members, which enables them to partake in APEX's annual induction ceremony and obtain free access to all of APEX's services.

Q: Where does the membership fee go and how is it spent?

A: The membership fee is used to fund membership benefits and to support local chapters in a variety of ways including induction ceremonies, conventions, social activities, seminars, and other services. As a non-profit organization all revenues generated by APEX, whether through membership fees or through donations from society partnerships, are used to enhance the value of membership and the overall improvement of the society.
